TASTING NOTES
Aroma:  Intense bouquet of fresh red fruits, particularly ripe cherries and raspberries, with subtle notes of vanilla and oak, suggesting barrel aging.
Palate: Great elegance with a velvety texture and dominant red fruit flavors, complemented by black cherries and ripe plums. The tannins are silky and well-integrated, providing a balanced structure.

Rich in tradition and rooted in nobility, Placido is a nod to the heritage and legacy of Count Placido. A 13th century Tuscan nobleman, Placido dei Placidi was the hero of the epic “Battle of Montaperti” between Florence and Siena. For his valor, he was awarded a vast estate where winemaking soon became an important part of the culture.

TASTING NOTES
Aroma: Fresh black cherry, plum, cassis/blackcurrant — bright, juicy fruit character typical of Merlot-dominant Right Bank Bordeaux.
Palate: Body & Structure: Medium-bodied with gentle, soft tannins and balanced acidity. The wine is smooth and easy-drinking rather than muscular or highly structured.

Planeta’s journey began at Sambuca di Sicilia, on the estate owned by the family since the 1600s. Here three enthusiastic young Sicilians, Alessio, Francesca and Santi Planeta, under the guidance of Diego Planeta, began their winemaking venture in the mid-1980s.

A highly concentrated ruby ​​red color, hinting at Mediterranean aromatic notes. Soft and full-bodied on the palate, it has a fresh taste with good acidity and structure, with balsamic and mineral notes. A very pleasant and interesting wine. Matured in large and small oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months.

TASTING NOTES
Aroma: Lean toward red fruits (such as cherry and raspberry), with some producers noting hints of floral or soft berry notes typical of Rioja Tempranillo.
Palate: Fruit-driven on the palate with red cherry, berry, and possibly vanilla or subtle spice from light oak or bottle age.

Kalleske Greenock Shiraz vineyard is located on the Western edge of Greenock  Creek in the Northern Barossa Valley. The vineyard consists of shallow, sandy  loam soil over superb deep red clay and limestone, providing ideal conditions for  Shiraz vines.

The “Greenock” block of grapes was harvested on March 21st.

Carpineto wines are grounded in tradition that influence everything from the sustainable efforts which go into how wine grapes are cultivated to how wine cellars are maintained to follow the natural phenomenon of grape transformation.

Established in the 18th century in the Haut-Médoc region, this 5th Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification has undergone substantial investments in both the vineyard and winery.

Colour: Deep, shining dark red hue with purple reflections, suggesting youth and vibrancy.

Delicious artisanal sangria with a sparkling touch, made with red wine from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, natural orange and lemon juice, and cinnamon. Lolea Sangria No. 1.

LOLEA sangria is artisanal, healthy, and natural.

The grapes used to produce this wine come from hand-harvested Tempranillo and Mazuelo vines. Grapes are destemmed and crushed and transferred to stainless steel truncated cone deposits. Controlled fermentation at 27ºC.

The Prunotto estate is located in Alba, the most important city in the Langhe area halfway between Barbaresco and Barolo on the right side of the Tanaro river, on gentle plains surrounded by vineyards in the Langhe and Roero territories. Alba’s surrounding landscapes are captivating.

Yarran Wines is a family owned and operated winery. The vineyards, winery and cellar door are all located in Yenda, NSW. Yenda is part of the Riverina region, the area has a long tradition for winemaking dating back to 1913 and is well renowned for producing world class high quality wines.

Aroma: Aromas and flavors are packed with dark berries, spice, and layers of chocolate, supported by lush tannins and integrated oak from 12 months in American hogsheads.

In July 2023, I had the pleasure to spend time with the crew at Château des Laurets. After an early morning drive across the river and over the right-banks gentle rolling hills to the winery, I had the opportunity to visit the vineyards used in crafting this wine.
