The story of El Enemigo begins with a historian and a winemaker. In 2009 historian Adrianna Catena, who is also Nicolas Catena’s youngest daughter, and Catena Zapata’s chief winemaker Alejandro Vigil decided to make their very own wines that would shake up Argentina’s wine scene and challenge the traditional ways of doing things.

Montepolli 2019 represents the first vintage of a new wine. It is a wine produced in the clos style, with the grapes coming from a small vineyard with a specific clayey-limestone subsoil and therefore the wine is only produced in small quantities.

Tenuta Licinia sits at the foothills of the Tuscan Apennines near the beautiful medieval village of Lucignano on the border between the province of Siena and Arezzo. The property consists of 60 hectares of woods, 5.5 ha. of vines, and 3 Ha of Olive groves.

Colour: Bright deep purple to dark ruby color, often with violet hues.

Aroma: Blackberry, cassis, plum, and occasionally cherry are layered over spice notes such as gray pepper, vanilla, toasted oak, cardamom, and gentle liquorice.

The name was the Chin dynasty in the year of 1809 when the original city was also built under the same name.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Quite sweet with gentle notes of vanilla and cut hay, a touch of fresh corn fields and a little cereal sweetness, like the bluegrass fields of Kentucky.

Palate: Good body with notes of toasty oak and all the requisite notes of vanilla and crème anglaise, a little spice and pepper with an acetone note.

• Aroma: Aromas of malt sugar and gentle peat smoke lead you into the dram. Layers of fresh green fruit come next followed by rose, geranium, apricot, and eucalyptus. The Martell NCF Non Chill-Filtered Cognac is a first for the house, in that the filtering process was carried out at room temperature, instead of one that’s lowered. The reason for this is that NCF is intended to be drunk over ice, in a cocktail or long drink, or even straight from the freezer.

The Louis XIII Classic decanter has remained the ultimate expression of Remy-Martin finest eaux-de-vie blend since 1874, containing up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne terroir - the Premier Cru of the Cognac region. Those eaux-de-vie are carefully blended over the years to create the cognac inside every LOUIS XIII Classic decanter.
